Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
Let’s be real — pelvic floor symptoms can feel frustrating, isolating, and even a little awkward to talk about. But they’re also very common, and more importantly, they’re treatable. Whether you’ve been quietly managing symptoms for years or just starting to notice something feels off, you’re not alone — and you’re in the right place.
At Athletic Edge Physical Therapy, we provide personalized pelvic floor rehab that meets you where you’re at — with clear answers, compassionate care, and a plan that actually works.
What Is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?
Pelvic floor PT is a specialized form of physical therapy focused on the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues that support your bladder, uterus, rectum, and core. These muscles play a huge role in movement, stability, sexual function, and quality of life — and when they’re not working well, they can affect your entire body.
Common Symptoms We Treat
Pelvic floor dysfunction can show up in a lot of different ways. You don’t need to be postpartum or pregnant to experience it — and it’s not “just part of aging.”
Here are just some of the things pelvic floor PT can help with:
Leaking with activity (like running, jumping, lifting, or doing double-unders)
Pelvic pain (including pain during sex or after exercise)
Postpartum recovery and return to exercise
Pregnancy-related discomfort or instability
Pelvic organ prolapse
Frequent UTIs without infection
Urgency or stress incontinence
Unexplained low back or hip pain
Sports hernia or deep core pain
Pain with intercourse (dyspareunia)
If something doesn’t feel right — trust your instincts. Pelvic floor symptoms are your body’s way of asking for attention, not something you need to push through or ignore.
What happens at your first session?
We’ll sit down, talk through what’s been going on, and get a full picture of your movement, habits, and goals. Your PT will look at more than just your pelvic floor — we’ll also assess your posture, breathing, hips, low back, core, and how everything’s working together.
We may do an internal pelvic exam (only with your full consent — and if it makes sense for your care). If not, we’ll still gather plenty of helpful info from movement-based and external assessments.
Together, we’ll build a plan that makes sense. No cookie-cutter stuff. No embarrassment. Just smart, supportive care that meets you where you’re at.
How we treat (and why it works)
Our approach is holistic. That means we look at the whole system — not just one muscle or diagnosis. Your care may include:
Breathing and pressure system retraining
Manual therapy for tight or painful tissues
Core and hip strengthening
Postural and lifting mechanics
Nervous system calming techniques
Real-world strategies to help you move without fear
We’ll also keep in regular contact between sessions. So you’re never left wondering, “Am I doing this right?”
