Professional Bike Fitting in San Diego

Ride more comfortably. Produce more power. Reduce pain.

At Athletic Edge Physical Therapy, our bike fitting services are led by Dr. Susie Watkins, DPT, OCS, a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy with advanced orthopedic training. This is not a quick adjustment or bike-shop sizing. It’s a movement-based bike fit designed around your body, your injury history, and your riding goals.

Whether you’re a road cyclist, triathlete, gravel rider, or recreational athlete, our goal is simple: help you ride stronger, more efficiently, and pain-free.

Why Get a PT-Led Bike Fit?

Your bike should work with your body—not force it into compensation.

A physical therapy–based bike fit allows us to:

  • Identify movement limitations affecting your position

  • Address pain, numbness, or asymmetries at the source

  • Improve comfort without sacrificing performance

  • Distinguish between fit-related issues and tissue limitations

  • Create long-term solutions—not just temporary adjustments

Because Dr. Susie is a licensed physical therapist, your fit is informed by clinical reasoning, biomechanics, and injury prevention, not just measurements.

Our Bike Fit Process

Each bike fit is a one-on-one session and typically lasts 60–90 minutes.

Step 1: Rider History & Goals

We start by understanding:

  • Riding style, volume, and terrain

  • Current discomfort or pain points

  • Previous injuries or surgeries

  • Performance and training goals

Step 2: On-Bike Evaluation

With you riding your bike, we evaluate:

  • Saddle height, setback, and tilt

  • Reach, stack, and handlebar position

  • Cleat alignment and foot mechanics

  • Joint angles, posture, and movement patterns

Step 3: Targeted Adjustments

Adjustments are made incrementally and reassessed in real time so you can feel the difference immediately.
